Slow Camp

The facts

The walk is about 350 meters from the parking to the slowcamp area. It is a moderately steep downhill walk with a gradient of about 25%. This will be less suitable for the inexperienced walker.
At the slowcamp area, which consists of about 5 acres, it is possible to pitch a maximum of 3 tents. Equipment is not provided and you will need to bring your own gear.
There is no toilet, so you will need to dig your own latrine. A scoop is available at the slowcamp.
As well as a sink there is an outdoor solar shower and some picnic tables.

After a climb to the ‘normal’ campsite area you can use the toilets, hot shower, large fridges and electricity should you prefer!

Guest book

Bas and Remco, now seasoned slowcampers, wrote in the guest book:
“Slowcamping” took a bit time to get used. But after one day our place nearby the oak became the most luxury pitch we ever had.”The space and the rest we will miss.”

Fly-drive holiday

You can find direct flights to our local airport in Pescara, which serves many Ryanair routes throughout Europe.  From the airport to Rocca di Sotto it’s only an hour’s drive by car (about 30 miles).
For a fly-drive holiday you can find out more information about the costs of car rental by contacting “Hertz” Airport Pescara.

Welcome to Rocca di Sotto!

The facts

The walk of approximately 350 meters from the parking lot to the slow camp is less suitable for the untrained hiker due to the fairly steep slope with a gradient of approximately 25%.
A maximum of 4 tents are allowed on the approximately 5 hectare site. Enough space and peace to set up your own tent.
If the surface of the path is dry, we can help transport the luggage with our 4X4.
There is no toilet, but you must dig a latrine yourself. A shovel and a bucket to extinguish the campfire are provided. In the event of prolonged drought, a campfire is unfortunately not possible and unfortunately it may happen that little or no water flows into the mountain stream in July and August.
There is a sink and an outdoor solar shower with tap water.
Of course, after the climb up, you can use the sanitary building and the vegetable garden at the mini campsite.

From the Guestbook:

“Slow camping took some getting used to at first, but our spot under the oak tree quickly became the most ‘luxurious’ camping spot we have ever had. We will miss the space and the peace.”
