After the long beautiful beaches to the north of Pescara, the landscape along the coastline changes to the south of the city where it is marked by cliffs, quaint little beach towns and beautiful bays. This is known famously as the ’Trabocchi Coast’, which took its name from the fishing huts there that are built on wooden stilts, the Trabocchi. These marvellous structures dot the coastline like Jurassic creatures of the sea.
Just before the harbour city Ortona, we discovered a beautiful bay with a campsite called “Ripari di Giobbe“. A few meters walk above the pebble beach there, there is a beach club and Italian restaurant where you can enjoy a drink or meal on the terrace whilst taking in the fabulous view of the waves and the ‘never ending’ horizon.
